In 2021, when will the best Black Friday laptop deals begin?

This year’s Black Friday is on November 26th, but we expect to see some great laptop deals before then. While the biggest discounts are traditionally released on Black Friday itself, and while this is still a good bet, we’ve seen laptop retailers launch their Black Friday pricing earlier in recent years, at the start of Thanksgiving week.

However, the best deals are found during Black Friday week. (We’ll be compiling all of the best laptop Black Friday deals first here, so bookmark this page and come back.) Early bird discounts are available in the weeks leading up to the main event, with some starting as early as mid-late October. This is a pattern we expect to see repeat itself this year.

Last year, thanks to the pandemic, the trend toward earlier deals was even more pronounced, with laptop prices gradually dropping between late October and mid-November before plummeting at the start of Thanksgiving week. It remained low into the first week of December after that.

That’s a far cry from the old days, when prices would plummet on the same day and then quickly rise again. Of course, retailers had a financial incentive to start their Black Friday laptop sales earlier last year. According to information from Adobe AnalyticsWith many brick-and-mortar stores closing and more people than ever shopping online – plus logistical challenges like shipping delays caused by Covid-19 – it made sense for retailers to spread the deals out. , the pandemic has hastened the shift to online shopping, with more than a 50% increase in 2020 versus 2019.

We don’t know if this year’s Black Friday laptop deals will start as early as last year’s, but our money is on retailers spacing out their best deals once again. To be safe, we recommend keeping your eyes peeled and checking this page starting in late October/early November.

By November, the latest Windows laptops with 11th generation Intel Core processors should be much more widely available, so we should see not only more widespread discounts on these machines, but also on the now-outdated 10th generation machines. We may also see new M1 Apple Macbooks by November, which could result in some significant price reductions on the first-generation machines.

It’s also likely that we’ll see the first significant price reductions on Nvidia RTX 3000 series graphics card-equipped gaming laptops. These machines were just released for early 2021, so they could be ripe for discounts by November – at least, that’s what we’re hoping.

When buying a laptop on Black Friday, what specifications should I look for?

Be aware that many laptop manufacturers and retailers are trying to get rid of old stock when looking for Black Friday laptop deals. That isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker; you should be able to get some work done even with an Intel Core i7-8500U. However, 9th-generation processors should be able to handle the workload. Intel processors, such as the Intel Core i7-10710U, should have a 10 or an 11 in front of their model number. However, keep in mind the current laptop hardware generations.

If you’re considering purchasing one of the On a Windows laptop, you should aim for at least 8GB of RAM as a minimum, and 16GB if you plan to do any heavy work with it. Finally, many Black Friday laptop deals will attempt to sell you a laptop that lacks sufficient RAM. best Chromebooks, you can get by with 4GB, but 8GB is a huge plus.

If you’re purchasing a gaming laptop, make sure it has a current-generation Nvidia GPU. However, older GPUs such as the RTX 2060, GTX 1660 Ti, and even less expensive GPUs such as the GTX 1650 will happily chug along at 1080p gaming, albeit at lower settings. The current top-end graphics chips are Nvidia GeForce 30-series graphics chips, which support ray-tracing in games.

Some of the most significant price reductions may be found on machines with these specifications, so they may be well worth it – just keep in mind that they aren’t the most recent models.
