The Best Dell Laptops for 2021

If you’re looking for a laptop, you have a plethora of options to choose from, including thin mobile companions and hefty, rugged notebooks, as well as everything in between. Where do I even begin? The simplest thing to do is to limit your options based on what you already know. And sometimes it’s a brand you’ve used and trusted for a long time.

Choosing a reputable brand eliminates half of the decision-making process. It’s a reasonable way to narrow down your options while still helping you find a great product if you’re brand loyal. If you’re familiar with Dell, you’ve probably formed an opinion about the company’s products’ dependability, customer service, and the overall quality of the user experience those products and services provide.

At all levels of the market, the company has reliable machines. There’s a good chance Dell has a model you’ve considered buying, whether you’re looking for a powerful laptop for crunching numbers at work or a laptop for staying productive at home or on the go.

These are mostly Windows machines; if you’re looking for something a little less expensive for basic tasks and browsing the web, look into Dell’s Chromebooks, which combine basic functionality with an affordable package that’s ideal for kids and students.

Precision is Dell’s line of mobile workstations, which includes both laptop and desktop models. Precision uses the same 3000, 5000, and 7000 series lingo as the other lines when it comes to laptops, with the screen size indicated within the model number.

The presence of a mobile Intel Xeon CPU and a dedicated workstation-grade graphics processor from Nvidia (Quadro) or AMD (Radeon Pro, much less common) distinguishes a high-end workstation from a consumer or business-grade Intel CPU. In contrast to their consumer-GPU counterparts (GeForce GTX/RTX and Radeon RX, respectively), the latter are designed specifically for the type of heavy-duty calculations that ISV-class applications demand. Convertible workstations are far less common than their consumer counterparts, so Dell offers a few 2-in-1 SKUs in the Precision line.
